Intro to Leaded Glass
Instructor: Alyssa
This class takes place on March 21st from 10am-2:30pm at our studio located at 2131 E Michigan St in Indianapolis. It is strongly recommended that you have taken at least one class where you have learned glass cutting prior to taking this class. Participants will get to learn the basics for creating leaded glass panels in this course. The leaded glass process involves using lead channeling to connect pieces of glass instead of copper foil. The leaded process is useful for creating larger windows as leading is sturdier than the foiling method. In this class, participants will create one leaded panel in the design shown in photo 2 (diamond piece will be a clear glass bevel but you will choose your other glass colors). We will cover how to properly cut your glass for leading, grinding, constructing, and how to solder lead joints. We will not be cementing our panels as this will not be necessary given the size of the panel, but I am happy to give instructions on how to do this for those who are curious.
Participants must be 18 or older to register for this class. Each paid spot is valid for only one attendee. There will be no refunds for cancellation but a 50% credit will be given towards a future class if 48+ hours notice is given. If an emergency arises preventing you from taking the class, please notify me via email as soon as possible. If inclement weather prevents the class from occurring on its scheduled date, attendees will be given a credit for the full amount to use towards a future class.
*Patterns are not for public use and pieces made in this class are not permitted for resale.
